Heavy Punctation CrossingWhen I started my blogging in October. I had my first post and I read it and it was totally different then how I’ve been writing now! It didn’t have a lot of details or punctuation(hence the picture) and that is important for later when your in high school then you can get better marks then when you don’t use it.I really like to work on my blog now because good ideas come to me really easy.

My resolutions were sort of hard to complete but, I kept trying and thats good.

For my local goal I completed that one because I recycled everything I could. I completed this goal!

My School goal was that I had to help out people when they needed it and that I would join all of the sports teams. I completed this one too!

Now, my Personal was really good resolution because it benefited my family and friends to be nicer and trust them. I also completed this goal!

My Global goal was that I had to buy fair trade food and clothes. This goal I did not complete.

I had four resolutions and I completed 3/4 of them. I wish I had completed all of them but, the most important thing is that I tryed.

Jelly-FishOur class went to the Vancouver Aquarium on June 1st! The first thing we did was finished our day at school and went to the ferry terminal and said goodbye to our parents. Then we all went on the ferry and got settled. Then we were all free to do what we want but, we had a few rules. Well, there was so much stuff to do but, I just hung out with my friends. Once we got off the ferry we got on the bus. Everyone on the bus started singing random songs like TiK ToK and Dinosaur. It was really fun. When we got off the bus we had to walk to the Aquarium. That wasn’t that bad except you had to carry all of your stuff which took a while. When we got there, there was a playground a few minutes away from the aquarium. So, we went over there and played for about an hour and then came back into the aquarium for a talk from the instructors. After that we went into our groups and started our tour and actually got to see the sea creatures in the aquarium! That was probably the best part of the trip. Then we had to sleep over by the whales and that was AWESOME!

When everyone woke up they were so tired, especialy me. In the morning we got to look at more of the exhibits. We got to see some dolphins, sea otters, and the beluga whales from above the water. I had so much fun and it was the best field trip ever!

Wordle_toolsThis post will be short but, awesome because it is showing all of the awesome tools I have been using all of this school year! Here is all of them so you can try them out. I hope you like them!

I think that YouTube will be a really good learning tool as I go on to high school because if I post up videos on something, I could then get feedback on it. I could also use Webspiration for when I am in high school because then I would post up my thoughts, and then get feedback from other people around the world who may know more than I do on that topic.

Have you ever used any of these programs?

Dark CloudHi this is a poem that I made because our class is working on Metaphors, Similes, Personification, Alliteration and Onomatopoeia. This poem has all of them. So look for them in my poem!

The Storm

On calm days

The ocean sleeps

On stormy days

The ocean is awake

Waves run across the water’s surface

Splash!

Crash!

Trapped out at sea

Dangerous waves

More frightening than an earthquake

It can be as bright

As the sun

Wishing for calm

Waiting for the storm to sleep again

The Crazy Man, by Pamela Porter, is a book that I had to read for a class project. This book is very addictive because it leaves you in a cliffhanger. I think this book is about loss because Emaline, the main character, loses two very important family members. Her dad and her dog. Well, early in the story the father leaves home after a horrible accident and doesn’t tell anyone where he is going. When the father left home Emaline felt awfel wanted him to come home. They needed someone to help out on the farm, so her mother hired a “Crazy Man” to help out on the farm, but the mother told Emaline to stay away from him. This is s great book. I hope you want to read it!

fenceHi! This week our class got to talk to a class in New Zealand! Our class had to learn Maori – theirlanguage – and it was very hard to figure out what we had to say because obviously it is a new language. I recorded my mihi, a traditional greeting, through Vocaroo and it sounds pretty cool. Click to hear it!

You can also go to my class blog to here my teacher speak Maori!

Colour BeanBagsNumbers are everywhere! Numbers are on the street and even in your house somewhere. Numbers are very important in life. For example, they are used in school and they are used in different ways for cars as well.

The coolest thing about numbers is that they never end! To begin with whole numbers start in the ones period and include three place value positions. These are the ones, tens, and hundreds places. The next period is the thousands period. In the thousands period they still have ones, tens and hundreds place value positions! Learning place value is easy because all you need to know is the three place value positions and the order of the periods. Here are the first 12 periods and how many place value poitions there are in them.

  1. Ones (1-3)
  2. Thousands(4-6)
  3. Millions(7-9)
  4. Billions(10-13)
  5. Trillions(14-16)
  6. Quadrillions(17-19)
  7. Quintillions(20-23)
  8. Sextillions(24-26)
  9. Septillions(27-29)
  10. Octillions(30-33)
  11. Nonillions(34-36)
  12. Decillions(37-39)

I know that they never end because if you took the biggest number you could ever think of, you could just add one and it would be bigger. So really there are tons of numbers that I didn’t list. There is also Googolplex Googolplex or for short ten to the power of ten to the power of one hundred. That’s HUGE! This one of the reasons why numbers are very interesting to me.

Do you know what comes after the decillion period?

When you post a picture on the Internet you have to be careful. If you have a picture on the Internet and you put your name under it, then you are giving way to much information. You can never know who is looking at all your pictures etc. It is much safer to put your picture on MSN or Facebook because only your friends can see them, if you have your privacy settings done correctly. If you dont want anyone seeing your real picture then you can use an avatar. If you use an Avatar then you can be extra safe online!
